Beau Travail

Summary

A movie that 'explores the near-mythical world of the French Foreign Legion.'

Dennis Lavant stars as Galoup, a sergeant-major whose position and power are threatened when the bravery and heroism of new recruit Sentain (Gregoire Colin) attracts the attention of the platoon's commandant (Michel Subor). Enraged, Galoup plots Sentain's downfall, a doomed course of action that leads to his own undoing.

Review.

Quite possible one of the *worst* movies I've ever seen. It sounded interesting, and since the French Foreign Legion isn't a well explored area in gay movies, I thought it could be a fascinating backdrop for what sounded like a dark lovestory.

Instead, what we have here, is a dire 'arthouse' movie, which so badly wants to be chic and cool, with endless scenes of men marching in the desert, or dancing in town, and being generally obnoxious......but it never actually forms into anything resembling a plot, and the characters rarely, if ever speak.

A pure abomination of a film, which made me want to demand my money back from Blockbuster!
